Pregnancy
Planning to start a family can be a daunting decision. Just the thought of giving birth and having a tiny human being growing inside you can cause both excitement and fear. But the process does not have to be fearful. By reading all you can on the process and preparing ahead of time your pregnancy can be filled with joy and anticipation of the birth.
The First Three Months
Called the first trimester, the first three months mark the beginning of your journey. Fertility may be an issue if you are trying to get pregnant. If this is your first pregnancy then you may be entering the world of the unknown. Just what does the baby look like during this time? How does it grow? What can I expect to feel like? Will I be sick forever? All these are legitimate questions.
The Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Months
This is your second trimester. Now will be the time when you feel your best during your pregnancy. You are not bulky enough yet to hinder movement or sleep. The morning sickness has faded into the past for most women. The baby is growing by leaps and bounds. Mom can feel the baby moving around for the first time during this time.
The Last Three Months
Entering the third trimester is a triumph. Everything from here on out is downhill. You are over halfway through the pregnancy. Your belly is expanding at a rapid rate. You may thing your belly is going to pop! Sometimes it may seem like you are going to be pregnant forever. The baby is growing and gaining weight and preparing to be born. Babies born prematurely during this time have a good chance of surviving.
The Birth
Suddenly it is over. You are in labor and heading for the hospital or else calling the midwife, if you are having a home birth. Before you know it a precious little baby is in your arms, Mom and dad are exhausted – the pregnancy is over. By preparing ahead for the birth and what immediately follows you will be able to get some much needed rest.
